Are population, birth control, genetic manipulation, assisted suicide, and infertility medical problems waiting to be solved by clinicians and researchers, or moral dilemmas requiring biblical answers? These questions, and others, demand a careful, compassionate, Christian response:
  • Is it good to clone mammals?

  • Is it good that technology can manipulate human procreation?

  • Is a person obligated to donate organs, or to receive an organ transplant?

  • Are Christians morally obligated to resist death at any cost?

  • Should Christians use procreative technology and prenatal genetic testing?

  • Should a Christian disconnect feeding tubes near the end of life?

The Center for Biblical Bioethics equips pastors, physicians, nurses, educators, attorneys and local church members to articulate biblical principles as they relate to major moral issues in modern medicine. Through research, publication, training and consultation, the Center provides biblical clarity for tough moral decisions in the fields of biotechnology and medicine. The Center is a division of Baptists for Life, Inc.

 

Center Programs

  • Biblical Bioethics Seminars - one-day seminars available to churches, colleges and schools, addressing key areas in bioethics.

  • LIFT (Loving Individuals in Final Transition) - a respite-type ministry of trained local church volunteers to chronically or terminally ill individuals and their families.

  • Biblical Bioethics Advisor - a bi-monthly research bulletin for pastors and physicians that enables them to counsel church members and patients in making sound medical decisions.

  • Biblical Bioethics Series - a series of brochures and easy-to-read question and answer booklets addressing specific problems in bioethics: Questions and Answers About Organ Transplants; . . . About Death and Dying; Assisted Procreation, etc.

  • Bioethics Consultation Services - professional bioethics consultation (free of charge) about specific bioethical situations people face. Includes assistance to local churches in developing medical ministries for outreach, and policies on communicable diseases, AIDS/HIV, etc., and to legislators and others on matters of public policy.
